Isn't "queer" a derogatory word?


We recognize and understand that the word "queer" may surprise some people because of its complicated role in our cultural history.

Following the lead of Ken Stone, who lectured during GLBT Week 2005, we are (re)claiming "queer" in its original sense: "deviating from the expected or normal; odd or unconventional; eccentric or different."
