GLBT?  LGBT?  Why do you keep changing?

Over the years the abbreviations and names have changed many times:  homophiles, homosexuals, GLB, LesBiGay,  GLBT, LGBT, Queer, SGL (Same Gender Loving) and so on...  With a few notable exceptions, most times the handle assigned to men ends up at the beginning of the spectrum of names.

Here at Lancaster Seminary the LGBT Week began with the abbreviation GLBT, which was a widely used combination of letters in 2000.  But in 2007 we changed the name of our event to LGBT Week in recognition of the important contributions of the many women of Lancaster Seminary in organizing our events and fostering a supportive community.

Use whatever abbreviation works for you.  There are no thought police here...
